dc.description.abstractStrategic planning has numerous Churches, just like profit making organizations, must study their appropriately to the challenges they face, failure to which they will their mission and purpose. The purpose of this study therefore was to •zeic planning practises among churches in Kibera slum. The specific of this study were to establish whether churches in Kibera practise strategic investigate the process slum churches follow in the planning and formulation aczanizational goals, to determine the nature of strategic plans used by churches and to explore the challenges slum churches face in the strategy formulation This research employed exploratory research design. With the population of churches in Kibera, the researcher identified ten percent (10%) of those meaning a sample of seventy churches in Kibera was chosen for study. Primary collected in Kibera slum using semi-structured questionnaires while secondary gathered from the internet, journals and books. The key findings in this study the following. One, although churches in Kibera seem to have knowledge of planning ideas and concepts, the churches practically do not engage in strategic. Two, the pastors in most cases have an upper hand in determining the direction church takes. Three, the churches have short-term plans which are better classified as operational plans or annual plans. Four, the churches have numerous challenges stand in their way of practising strategic planning.
