Leaders often have a substantial impact on organizational aspects and performance which includes when an organization is implementing change. The purpose of the study was to determine the role of leadership in change implementation at The Fred Hollows Foundation. With the significant growth by the Foundation in recent years, internal and external demands have necessitated the organization to change in order to achieve its vision. The objectives of the study were to establish the role of leadership in change implementation, to determine the relationship between leadership and change implementation, to determine the change management process adopted and the effect on change implementation and to establish the challenges faced by the Foundation in change implementation. To achieve these objectives, descriptive design was used with a target population of 248 from a total population of 308. A sample size of 74 using stratified and purposive sampling was used. Data collected using questionnaires from all the regions the Foundation has presence and an interview held with the CEO. Data was coded and entered into SPSS and analysed using descriptive statistic and correlation analysis. Results indicated that leadership played vital role in change implementation at the Foundation and that there is a significant relationship between leadership and change implementation. Change management process was found to be positively and significantly related with change management and that challenges negatively affected change implementation. The study concluded that leadership played a critical role on implementation of change. The recommendation made was that organizations implementing change should have their leadership at the centre of the change implementation strategy, the change management process should be defined and be adequately communicated early enough before change implementation begins.
