Numerous authors have postulated that the fulfillment of organisational strategic goals depends on the competence and efficiency of the human resource in the organization. The purpose of the study was to establish the role of strategic human resource management practices on strategic goal achievement at Daystar University. The study objectives were to establish the strategic human resource management practices being carried out, to evaluate the role of strategic human resource management practices on strategic goal achievement and to establish the challenges faced in aligning strategic human resource management practices to strategic goal achievement. The study adopted a descriptive reserach design. The target population was 255 staff of Daystar University, Athi-River and Nairobi Campuses. The sample size of the study was 127 respondents being 50% of the target population. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire and later analysed using SPSS version 23. Data presentation was through frequency tables and figures. The study revealed that the key strategic human resource management practices that were being implemented included training and development, compensation and employee relations. The study reveals that training and development was the most implemented strategy at Daystar University while compensation, employee relations and recruitment strategies were implemented at Daystar University were also implemented but not to a large extent. The study also revealed that human performance was difficult to predict, investment in human resource was challenging and there was poor communication of strategic goals respectively which interfered with the role of strategic HRM practices on strategic goal achievement. The study recommended that Daystar University needs to strengthen the role played by strategic HRM practices on strategic goal achievement by investing more in strategic human resource practices in the organization.en_US
