dc.description.abstractHuman resource development practices are vital for today’s organization. Human resource development is about learning and support establishment, in order to enhance individual and organizational performance. This study aimed at assessing the effects that human resource development practices had on organizational performance at Spinners and Spinners Limited. Specifically, the study looked at the following objectives; to establish the HRD Practices that have been adopted at Spinners and Spinners Limited, to assess the effects of HRD practices on the organizational performance of Spinners and to determine the effects of HRD practices at Spinners and Spinners Limited on employee competence and commitment. The study applied descriptive research design, stratified random sampling was used, and the target population consisted of the management, supervisors and general workforce employees working within Spinners and Spinners Limited in Ruiru. Data collection was through the use of a questionnaire which utilized both structured and unstructured questions. The data was analyzed through the use of largely quantitative and qualitative analysis and presented through the use of tables, graphs and charts. This assisted in answering the research questions and making conclusions as well as recommendations of the study. Findings from the study demonstrated that the human resource development practices at Spinners and Spinners Limited have contributed to its organizational performance, with training and development being the practice that has been most adopted. The study recommended that HRD practices should be adopted within organizations, and the management of the organization should play a key role in the enforcement of its human resource development practices.en_US
