dc.description.abstractStrategic human resource management practices have been hailed as the elements that would yield organizational innovations. The purpose of this study was to establish the effect of strategic human resource management practices in organizational innovation, a case of the Nairobi Hospital. The study’s objectives were; to identify the strategic human resource management practices applied by Nairobi Hospital, to establish the measures of organizational innovation in Nairobi Hospital and to establish the effects of strategic human resource management in organizational innovation at the Nairobi Hospital. The study adopted a descriptive research design. The target population was all the 486 employees at the Nairobi Hospital. Purposive sampling was used to select 145respondents. The study collected primary data using questionnaires. The collected data was coded into Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software for analysis. The study established that reward system, recruitment and selection, performance management and training and development were the practiced strategic human resource management practices. The study concluded that reward system, recruitment and selection, performance management and training and development were the main strategic human resource management practices in place and that these strategic management practices had a positive and significant effect of organizational innovation. The study recommends that all national hospitals provide their top management staff with flexible compensation structures. The top management should come up with benchmarking programs to improve performance.
