Abstract
ABSTRACT
The primary purpose of this study was to examine strategic management practices on employee motivation, a case of Smart Royal Career Consultancy, Kenya. For organizations to achieve their objectives, they must motivate their employees to work towards them. It is easier for an organization to achieve its goals when its employees are motivated towards their personal, professional, and organizational objectives. Organizations must establish strategic management practices on motivate employees. The literature review guided the study to focus on three theories: strategic management practices and employee motivation. The study was built on three variables: strategic management practices, employee motivation and Intervening variables and organizational culture, which affected Smart Royal Career Consultancy but at different levels. This study was guided by the following research objectives: to assess the strategic practices applied at Smart Royal Career Consultancy, to assess the effect of employee motivation at Smart Royal Career Consultancy and to assess the relationship between strategic management practices and employee motivation. Smart Royal Career Consultancy adopted a descriptive research design. The population of this study comprised all two hundred and eight one (281) employees of Smart Royal Career Consultancy. The Simple random sampling technique was used in the study to select the respondents from the list of employees provided by the human resource department to capture the entire population; thus, the study's sample size was 165.The data collecting instrument was a tailor-made structured questionnaire developed by the researcher, particularly for this study. The questionnaire used a five-point Likert scale to rate the strategic management practices on employee motivation. The research was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) version 24. The study revealed that the management of Smart Royal Career Consultancy used strategic management practices on employee motivation. The management allowed the employees to be involved during formulation. The findings from the study revealed that the company had adopted various strategic management practices in day-to-day activities. The study recommended that management ensure more resource allocation and those who will implement those actions. This enhances the overall organizational direction and helps to improve employee motivation. Smart Royal Career Consultancy should incorporate organizational policies and culture for employees to be entirely motivated since they are enablers between strategic management practices and the motivation of employees across the organization.
