dc.description.abstract | This study examined the effects of business process re-engineering (BPR) in Kevian Kenya Limited (KKL) in driving global competitiveness. It was guided by three objectives, namely, to identify types of BPR activities in existence at KKL, to establish the competitiveness of KKL globally, and to determine the effects of BPR on global competitiveness. The study employed a descriptive research and case study design. The target population was the KKL employees and the customers. Data was collected by use of a semi-structured questionnaire and a census approach was used to select 133 respondents. The study employed statistical models to analyze the data collected and the analyzed data was presented using tables, figures, charts, and correlations. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 23.0 helped in data analysis. Findings revealed that the BPR activities KKL used included re-designing of an effective IT infrastructure, benchmarking with international competitors, revising of reward and motivation systems, planning and resourcing for BPR and use of BPR consultants. Similarly, the study found that BPR reduced costs (98.3%), led to increased market share (75%), and led to new customer focused processes (81.6%). Further, the study established that BPR had led to new organizational shared values and belief (66.7%), improved communication (70%) and improved customer satisfaction (80%). The study recommends that there should be periodic rating of KKL staff and assessment of their strength and weakness to enable them to adjust to process and systems brought about by the re-engineering process activities. Rewards should be given to exceptional workers to make the assessment very effective. | en_US |
