dc.description.abstractParental engagement is widely recognized as a crucial factor in a child’s learning journey and academic success. The study sought to explore ways that enhance parental engagement to promote children’s learning outcomes across various early years centres. The study identified the role of parents in the education of their children which is a key determinant of their total functioning as well as the future successes. There being a need for parents to understand the diverse needs of their children in school is crucial to their learning. The study sought to identify different ways for enhancing parental engagement on children’s learning in selected Kidogo Early Year’s Centres in Nairobi Kenya. Objectives guiding the study were to determine the influence that flexible school office timing has in enhancing parental engagement on children’s learning, to analyze the effect of school-to-home communication system in enhancing parental engagement on children’s learning and to evaluate the effect of positive school environment in enhancing parental engagement on children’s learning. The study adopted a cross-sectional descriptive study design which was appropriate for the researcher to respond to descriptive questions that focus on “How, what, where and when?”. Questionnaires, Key Informant Interviews and Focus Group Discussions were the methods used to collect the data. Analysis was done using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and Nvivo 11. The study found that parental engagement is an important aspect for the enhancement of children’s learning outcomes. Challenges experienced by parents were lack of knowledge on the importance of parent engagement. The study recommended enhancing their knowledge on the importance through employing different parental engagement strategies.
