dc.description.abstractABSTRACT For this study, transgender people refer to people who have a gender identity or gender expression that differs from their assigned sex or a person whose gender identity, outward appearance, expression and or anatomy does not fit into conventional expectations of either male or female. In this study, the term transgender will also encompass gender non-conforming persons. This study was guided by the following general objective, to investigate the forms of discrimination experienced by the transgender community in Kenya and their impact, specific to Nairobi County, and the following specific objectives which is to investigate the copying strategies of persons who have undergone transgender, to assess the impact of discrimination among persons who have undergone transgender in Nairobi, to investigate the coping strategies of persons who have undergone transgender among the transgender community in Nairobi. The study adopted gender theory, queer theory, and trans theory, Data was collected using questionnaire, the target popolution was Persons aged 18 years and above. A sample of 60 participants was selected randomly, the study employed qualitative method and quantitative method was analyzed using SPSS 26 Version and the results revealed that there was indeed discrimination amongst trans-gender people living in Nairobi the study recommended that the National Government and the County Government of Nairobi should promote the inclusion of everyone in all spheres of life that is social, economic and political, without bias, including gender bias, as enshrined in the constitutionthere.
