dc.description.abstractis based on the relationship between strategic planning and organizational in the insurance industry; a case study of selected insurance companies in Kenya. e of the study was to establish the relationship between strategic planning in ensuring organizational performance for the long-term survival of insurance companies in. The research was guided by objectives; to establish how strategic planning was carried n insurance industry, determine how organizational perförmance was measured and relationship between strategic planning and organizational performance. The study case study design and utilized quantitative and qualitative data as its primary source of r.rr-%Eion, together with information from secondary sources. A target population of 302 was randomly selected using stratified random sampling method. The data was using statistical package for social science (SPSS) and data was presented in table, pie and bar graphs. The study established that insurance companies have strategic plans. The found that all levels of management were involved in strategic planning and senior •zz.•ement drove strategic planning implementation. The study also established that financial was the most popular approach to measure organizational performance. Finally, the established that there was positive relationship between strategic planning and re:nizational performance. The researcher made the following recommendation; insurance should endeavor to involve all levels of management in formulation of strategic •unning so as to capture views from all sectors. There should be clear communication and raining to all stakeholders so as to achieve best results out of the strategic planning process. .>-ring formulation of strategic planning organization should take into consideration resource E}ocation both financial and human resources for the entire process.
