dc.description.abstractThe COVID-19 pandemic caused organizations to employ various survival methods to ensure their survival and continuity. Institutions of higher learning, in particular, suffered learning interruptions as a result of extended closures, affecting traditional methods of in-person education. This study analysed the post-crisis strategies implemented by Daystar University (DU) in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic's first three waves (March 2020 to March 2022) by applying the Discourse of Renewal Theory (DRT). The Discourse of Renewal framework perceives crises as opportunities for refocusing rather than mere threats. This study utilized the descriptive research design where the researcher employed mixed methods convergent parallel research design for collection of data and presentation of the findings. The findings from the study revealed that the Discourse of Renewal Theory was inadvertently employed by Daystar University in the post COVID-19 period. The transition from physical to virtual learning; strengthening of Daystar University ICT system and the accreditation of Daystar University as an online campus by the Commission for University Education (CUE) are some notable achievements made by the institution post COVID-19. Moreover, the critical role played by an organization’s leadership in times of crisis was brought to the fore in this study’s findings. On the flip side, it emerged that Daystar University needs to focus its efforts in ensuring their communication post crisis is genuine, sensitive and that it reflects the institution’ s core values. In light of these findings, the study recommends that institutions of higher learning should always include Organizational Learning as part of their strategic plan.
