In today’s global community multicultural communication cannot be avoided. However, cultural differences in multicultural organization are viewed as barrier to effective communication. Cultural values are heritage resources that need to be utilized in internal communication. The study sought to establish the influence of cultural values on internal communication among employees of Tangaza University College (TUC) in Nairobi. The study objectives included: to identify the prevalent cultural values at TUC, find out how cultural values affect communication among TUC employees, and determine the perceived benefits and non-benefits of cultural values on internal communication among TUC employees. Hofstede’s theory of cultural dimensions was employed. Cultural value dimensions; power distance, collectivism, and individualism influence on internal communication was explored. Being an exploratory research, qualitative and quantitative approaches were employed whereby from a population of 241 employees, 49 were selected to participate in the study using purposive and convenience sampling techniques. Data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. Data from the questionnaires was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 21, while the interviews responses were thematically reviewed and key points summarized. The findings revealed that cultural values under investigation were actively functional in diverse practices at TUC. Cultural values affected information flow, communication relationships and communication effectiveness. Moreover, it was noted that the different cultural values studied had the potential to enhance internal communication depending on application to internal communication. Cultural diversity of employees should therefore be embraced and be utilized to enhance internal communication.
