Abstract

Proliferation of emerging technologies has been both a boon and bane in the education sector. This is particularly a concern for educationists who wish to achieve collaborative learning among students. Online learning, in particular, a form of disruption education technology, has been sighted to hinder meaningful interaction towards conjuring collaborative learning ( PBL is an aspect of collaborative learning). This is especially due to the lack of physical presence of both the learner and the lecturer in a physical location hence said to impact negatively on team-work and the human touch in learning.Although technologies such as (augmented reality) to enhance participatory learning through online platforms have been developed, the challenge of accessibility especially in the Africa context still queries the effectiveness of disruptive education technologies. The study examined the role played by disruptive technologies to enhance collaborative learning in higher learning institutions.
