Abstract

The Kenyan Government has implemented different legislative mechanisms in an attempt to address the issue of discrimination, gender inequality, and the empowerment of women. However, workplace discrimination remains a persistent problem in organizations. This research shows that regardless of the efforts on the side of the Kenyan government gender equality is yet to be fully realized. This is due to poor implementation of the law and persistent gender roles that have been passed down over time and have further translated to a male-dominated workplace that further encourages and facilitates discrimination against women in the workplace. This research paper further makes a comparative analysis between Kenya and other commonwealth countries with an aim of analysing how judicial systems address the issue of discrimination against women in the workplace with an aim of establishing whether Kenya can borrow some practises from them. Finally, the research paper makes recommendations on what the Kenya Government can do in order to do away with the issue of discrimination against women in the workplace.
