Item An Assessment of The Impact of Intimate Partner Homicide on The Psychosocial Experiences of The Victims` Parents: A Case of Kisii County, Kenya.(Daystar University, School of Applied Human Sciences, 2024) Akinyi, Jacoyange JacquelineThis study explored the experiences of parents whose children had been victims of intimate partner homicide (IPH) in Kisii County, Kenya. Utilizing a mixed-methods research approach, the study aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the psychological impacts on these parents. The research employed a descriptive research design to observe and summarize the phenomena without intervention, ensuring a scientific portrayal of the situation. Data was collected from a target population comprising parents of IPH victims reported at the Kisii Township Police Station, Kisii County, Kenya, between 2022 and 2024. A census of 32 families was conducted, with a quantitative data gathered through structured questionnaires. The study's descriptive research design was chosen to capture aspects of the parents' experiences, offering a balanced insight into the issue. Statistical analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 28.0, and the findings were presented in tables, charts, and figures. Ethical considerations were integral to this study, with approvals sought from relevant authorities to ensure the safety and confidentiality of all participants. This research aimed to contribute to the understanding of IPH's broader social impact and offer insights that could inform strategies to prevent such violence in the future.
