The goal of the research was to offer a thorough grasp of the complex relationships that exist between criminal gangs and the welfare of the local population. The study used a mixed-methods approach to combine quantitative information from surveys and crime statistics with qualitative information from focus groups and Key interviews. The study also incorporated a convergent parallel mixed-method research design. This approach allowed for a more comprehensive understanding of the complex issue by incorporating both numerical data and rich, contextual information. The study also drew from the Strain and Social disorganization theory in trying to comprehend the matter at hand. The inquiry explored the tactics used by criminal gangs, their socioeconomic backgrounds, and the elements that have led to their spread throughout the Embakasi Central Sub-County. Furthermore, the research closely examined how criminal activity affects citizens' day-to-day lives, rating the degree of personal safety and the community's coping strategies. Additionally, the study assessed the efficacy of current law enforcement tactics and neighborhood-based programs in reducing the risks associated with criminal gangs. The research findings offered significant contributions to the wider discussion on urban security issues and offered useful perspectives for decision-makers in government, law enforcement, and community organizations.
