While these challenges have been attributed to the economic trends; leadership and management have played a key role in determining the failure or success of these corporations. Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development is not an exception to this. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of leadership styles on organization performance in Kenyan state corporations using a case of KICD. This study utilized a descriptive research design. The study population was 639 employees. The sample size of the study was 128 employees selected from various departments using stratified sampling. Primary data was collected using questionnaires. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the descriptive elements of the study. Correlations and regression analysis were calculated to draw inferences to the entire population. The findings of the study were presented using tables and figures. The study revealed that there were various leadership styles used in KICD and the institution recorded good performance in terms of employee satisfaction, responsiveness, organization productivity, organization reliability and efficiency utilization of assets as shown by mean score of 3.53, 3.52, 3.51, 3.44and 3.33 respectively. The link between leadership styles and performance of KICD was measured in terms of flexibility, employee and customer satisfaction, productivity, regulatory compliance, innovation and resource acquisition. The study concluded that leaders at KICD rarely implement change if anything the leaders often call attention to what others can get for what they accomplish. They provide others with new ways of looking at things. This study recommends that the management of KICD should discard autocratic leadership and embrace transformational leadership to improve performanceenstate corporations.
