The perception of teachers on the appraisal process is important in achieving its objectives. The main focus of this study was to assess the perceptions of teachers on the 2020 implement teacher performance appraisal and development (TPAD) process on teacher performance in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, Kenya. The study was informed by two theories; education production function (EPF) theory and performance appraisal model (PAM). The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. A sample size of 80 teachers was drawn using simple random sampling technique. Additionally, six deputy principals and the TSC sub county director were interviewed as key informants. Data was analysed using SPSS version 23. The results were presented in form of tables and descriptive statistics. The study revealed that the perception of the secondary school teachers towards the new 2020 TPAD process was positive. The majority of the teachers reported they were excited about the process. The teachers considered TPAD appraisal process as important not only to their performance but also to their association and connection to other organizations. The study concluded that the performance of the new 2020 TPAD process was above average but more still needed to be done to ensure that the same is improved. The study recommends that the appraisal process should be made approachable to encourage teachers to wilfully participate. Appraisal processes should not be intimidating or threatening to teachers. Again, the process should be complementary to teacher performance. A more teacher friendly appraisal process improves teacher perception, which leads to improved performance.enTeachersPerformance AppraisalPublic Secondary SchoolsKikuyu Sub-CountyKiambu CountyKenyaTeachers’ Perception On The 2020 Performance Appraisal And Development Process In Public Secondary Schools: A Case Of Kikuyu Sub-County, Kiambu County, KenyaThesis
