The oSectives of this study included evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the Lea in Mavuno Church, determining whether the parents taught their children •hat they learnt in the Lea programme and establishing whether the lessons the children learnt from their parents aided in their holistic development. The study .5pted descriptive research design which used both qualitative and quantitative approaches, The sampling technique in this study was simple random sampling for the who had participated in Lea and the children used in the study. Purposive sampling was used for the facilitators of the Lea programme. The target population consisted of 300 parents who had participated in the Lea programme, 10 facilitators of the Lea classes and 58 children of parents who had participated in the Lea programme. The researcher used questionnaires and focus groups in data collection. In this study both qualitative and quantitative data was generated and analysed. Data was analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 21 and then presented using frequency tables and figures. The study findings established that Mavuno church had been faithful to its mandate to teach Biblical principles concerning parenting through the Lea programme which was found to have great strengths. The study also revealed that parents taught what they learnt from the Lea programme to their children and these lessons aided in the holistic development of their children. Recommendations for this study included: increased pastoral and financial support from the church leadership, revision of the manual to incorporate parenting aspects that were omitted and follow up of the Wazazi groups formed after the programme to monitor long term effects of Lea.enThesis
