Its objectives were to find out the levels of job satisfaction, the prevalence of stress and anxiety, the triggers of stress and anxiety, and the coping mechanisms adopted by staff at the prestige and mall cluster branches at Absa Bank. The target population of the study comprised 310 employees working at Absa Bank prestige and mall cluster branches. The study employed a descriptive survey design and data was collected using questionnaires. Stratified random sampling method was used to select a sample size of 95 respondents. Data was analyzed quantitatively using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 24, software. The study found high job satisfaction levels among respondents. Further, results indicated normal anxiety levels among 38(42.2%) of the respondents, mild anxiety levels among 32(35.6%), and moderate anxiety levels among 19(21.2%) respondents, with only 1(1.1%) indicating severe anxiety. The triggers of stress and anxiety included being placed in a performance improvement plan, conflicts with a supervisor, the nature of work-life balance, and dealing with difficult customers. To cope with stress and anxiety, Absa Bank employees engaged in physical exercises and participated in chill-out sessions where they shared experiences on how they cope with different situations. They also used a medical cover provided by the bank to access medical attention and professional counselors for psycho-social support. The study concluded that employee performance, and by extension organizational performance, was not only high but effective and efficient given employees’ high job satisfaction levels. The study recommends that Absa Bank needs to continually strive to maintain a workplace where staff members feel empowered and well-facilitated.enStressStressJob SatisfactionStaffAbsa BankPrestigeMall ClusterAn Assessment of Stress And Anxiety On Job Satisfaction Among Staff At Absa Bank: Case Of Prestige And Mall Cluster Branches, Nairobi County, KenyaThesis
