Abstract

In the recent years a significant number of Christian universities have been chartered in Kenya. Most of these universities have since shifted from playing religious functions and are now offering courses without rigorous attention to spirituality. Government regulations have exerted pressure on the Christian universities to admit non-Christian students. Interestingly the numbers of students seeking to undertake secular courses in Christian universities are growing faster than those seeking to pursue courses related to Christian ministries. Given that the state laws are increasingly influencing the education practices in these universities, it becomes necessary therefore to examine the difficulties Christian universities are facing while trying to balance remaining faithful to their mission and vision and being compliant with government regulations.
