Abstract

In the chapter, we briefly consider the historical and cultural mutation of the Luyia community, before exploring the concept of obuha which takes the combined meaning of eulogy and tribute. Significantly, the chapter traces the theoretical assumptions of the accelerated public speaking (APS) theory—assumptions that form the theoretical perspectives. A grounded perspective on the APS theory will not be complete without the mention of strengths and weaknesses of the theory. In the final section, the chapter addresses itself to the limitations and future endeavors of the APS theory.
