This paper explores alternative means of structuring African educational systems in order to promote holistic development. It is my contention that the greatest problem of Africa is that people attempt to understand the continent's problems by dividing humans into body and soul-spirit; separating spiritual from social development. This kind of thinking contradicts the holistic African worldview. If we agree that development begins in the mind, we should therefore not separate spiritual development from social development, for both affect each other
