Abstract

This dissertation critically analyzes the effectiveness of Kenya’s intellectual property (IP) laws in safeguarding creative works within the music, literary, and broadcasting indus-tries. It examines the existing legal framework, including the Copyright Act, the roles of key institutions like the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO), and the challenges of enforcement, particularly in the digital age. The study highlights gaps in enforcement, particularly concerning digital piracy, and provides recommendations for strengthening Kenya’s IP protection to foster innovation and economic growth in the creative sectors.
